Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini
I will stick with easy side dish recipes like Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini, please 🙂
Simple side dishes with only a few ingredients are a gift really.
Like, I am already making a main course and now I’m supposed to whip up a fancy side dish or two as well…no thank you.
This zucchini paired perfectly with Honey Soy Grilled Chicken, which is also a quick meal with 5 ingredients.
For the chili part of this dish, I used Sambal Oelek but you could use Sriracha if preferred.
It has a nice spice, but not overwhelming.
How to make Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini
Slicing the zucchini fairly thick is also part of what makes this so good.
If it’s too thin, it will turn mushy and I love zucchini that still have a slight crisp to it.
I cut my zucchini lengthwise and then into half inch slices.
Then slice the onions a bit thinner, more like quarter inch slices.
Since the onions will take a bit longer to cook, I threw them first into a wok over medium high heat with sesame oil.
You can certainly use a skillet if you don’t have a wok.
After the onion cook about 3 minutes, add the zucchini.
Keep stirring this for 3 more minutes.
Then add in the yumminess…the chili sauce, soy sauce, and garlic.
Cook another 3 to 4 minutes and that’s really it!
See, I told ya it was simple and easy 🙂
The onions should be perfectly cooked through, and the zucchini should still have a bite to it and a slight crisp.
Sprinkle Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini with sesame seeds if desired and serve with dinner 🙂

Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini
Chili Garlic Stir Fry Zucchini is an amazingly delicious and easy side dish, a little spicy from the chili sauce and full of yummy garlic flavor
Ingredients
- 2 zucchini
- 1 onion
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2 Tbsps soy sauce
- 2 Tbsps chili sauce (such as Sriracha or I used Sambal Oelek)
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- Optional: sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions

Slice the zucchini lengthwise and then slice into half inch slices. Cut the onion into 1/4 inch slices.

Set a wok or skillet over medium high heat and add the sesame oil. Once the oil is hot add the onions and cook 3 minutes, stirring as it cooks.

Add the zucchini and cook 3 more minutes, stirring as it cooks.

Add the soy sauce, chili sauce, and garlic. Cook 3 to 4 more minutes, continue to stir.

Serve with sesame seeds over top if desired.
