Italian Pressed Sandwiches

Italian Pressed Sandwiches

I don’t use my panini press nearly as often as I should. My daughter uses it often for lunch sandwiches, but I wanted to make an extra special dinner recipe by making Italian Pressed Sandwiches.

So super simple to make, but extraordinary in flavor!

Kinda made it feel like a takeout meal or restaurant meal at home 🙂

The sandwich ingredients were typical Italian sub meats and cheese…salami, ham, pepperoni, and provolone cheese.

How to make Italian Pressed Sandwiches

I really had my heart set on using individual Ciabatta rolls.

And usually my store has them, but this week they did not.

A great substitution is Telera rolls, which already come four in a pack so they were perfect.

Telera rolls are a traditional Mexican roll, but I don’t think they minded being the star of these Italian sandwiches 😉

Telera Rolls

I’m pretty certain it was the pesto that took this sandwich to a whole new level of flavor.

You can use store bought pesto, or make this Healthy Basil Walnut Pesto.

This is just a 4 ounce jar of already made pesto.

After cutting the rolls in half spread about one ounce on the bottom part of each roll.

Then pile on the salami, ham, and pepperoni.

And of course the cheese and place the top back on each sandwich.

Now we are ready for the panini press!

Preheat the press to medium high and place two sandwiches on the press.

Close it and press down slightly.

If the top of yours gets hot like mine does, use a towel when pressing.

These will cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

Repeat with the two remaining sandwiches.
