Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms

Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms

These Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms are a super easy way to make a steak recipe without fussing with the grill.

I really should make steak more often just to see the looks of pure excitement on my husband and son’s faces.

Plus they make the perfect one pan, easy weeknight dinner.

Here’s how to make Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms…

First, cut 2 pounds of steak into inch cubes.

Use your favorite cut of steak…for this I used top sirloin.

But you could use New York strip or flat iron steak as well.

Flat iron steak is quickly becoming my new favorite cut.

Then place the steak bites in a bowl with some garlic paste, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Toss to coat evenly and set aside.

Using garlic paste allows more of the steak to be coated in garlic.

Plus, when I made this once with minced garlic, some of the garlic pieces burned.

The only other prep work is to cut the mushrooms in half.

My seven year old actually cut these with a small paring knife and I was impressed with his skills 🙂

I find that having my kids help me in the kitchen not only helps them learn, it also increases their willingness to try new food.

Next, heat a large cast iron or heavy skillet over medium high heat and add the steak in two separate batches with butter.

Doing this in small batches creates a nice, brown crust on the steak.

The steak cooks 2 minutes per side, then remove from the pan.

Now it’s mushroom time!

At this point my pan was so hot that it did get a little smoky in my kitchen as you can see.

It smelled amazing though so I didn’t mind a bit.

The mushrooms cook for 3 to 5 minutes in more butter with some kosher salt and pepper.

Finally, once the mushrooms are cooked, the steak goes back into the pan with a little more butter.

Serve once the butter is melted and the steak is nice and hot again.

Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms would be so good served with mashed potatoes!
