Buffalo Chicken Salad with Homemade Healthy Ranch
I made a crisp, refreshing, Buffalo Chicken Salad with Healthy Homemade Ranch.
It may be the end of September and I probably should be making pots of chili and a pumpkin spice something-or-other.
But it’s still 98 degrees with a heat index advisory!
The thing that makes this salad extra special is the Healthy Homemade Ranch.
It’s great as a dressing and also as a dip for veggies or pretzels.
If you don’t use it all it stays perfectly fresh for a few days in the fridge.
I am a planner when it comes to dinner.
Many weeks I make Simple Shredded Chicken for Meal Prep on the weekends and plan to use it throughout the week.
It’s a huge time saver for us busy working moms.
That way I get home from work and it makes dinner even simpler.
The chicken is already cooked, shredded, and waiting for me in the fridge.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Salad
This is Frank’s Buffalo Wing sauce, but any buffalo sauce will work.
I tossed it with some buffalo sauce and it’s ready for the salad.
Seriously all that’s left to do is divide up the lettuce and chicken.
And add yummy toppings like tomatoes, blue and cheddar cheese (because no one should have to pick just one type of cheese, right?!), and crunchy croutons.
Serve the Buffalo Chicken Salad with Healthy Homemade Ranch and dinner is ready 🙂

Buffalo Chicken Salad with Healthy Homemade Ranch
A gorgeous and healthy salad with a super simple homemade dressing!
- 2 5.3 oz containers nonfat plain greek yogurt
- 6 oz buttermilk
- 1 packet dry ranch seasoning
- 8 cups lettuce of choice
- 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
- 3/4 cup buffalo sauce
- 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes cut in half
- 4 oz blue cheese crumbles
- 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 avocado diced
- 3/4 cup croutons
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the greek yogurt, buttermilk, and ranch packet. Set aside.
Toss the chicken and buffalo sauce together until evenly coated.
Make the salads on 4 plates or bowls by evenly dividing lettuce, buffalo chicken, tomatoes, both cheeses, avocado, and croutons.
Serve with the healthy homemade ranch.
Note: Leftover ranch can be stored in the fridge for one week.
