Air Fryer Cheesy Bacon Wrapped Chicken

I mean, if this cheap and easy recipe for Air Fryer Cheesy Bacon Wrapped Chicken doesn’t grab your attention and make you drool I don’t know what will.

Let’s just think this through, friends…cheese stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon….YUM!

You’ll need six boneless, skinless chicken thighs, which are very budget friendly, to begin and your favorite BBQ seasoning.

You could use thin cut chicken breasts if you prefer.

Mine happens to be this Honey Hog seasoning.

Here’s how to make Air Fryer Cheesy Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Trim the chicken thighs if needed.

I like using my kitchen scissors for this job.

Season both sides of the chicken with the BBQ seasoning, kosher salt, and pepper.

Then place a cube of cheese in the center of each chicken thigh.

The size of cheese will depend on the size of your thighs.

Mine were about an inch.

There was one I had trouble wrapping so I just cut off a little slice to make the cheese smaller.

The next part is wrapping the chicken around the cheese and wrapping each with two slices of bacon, tucking and rolling it to get the perfect little package.

The regular cut bacon is what you’ll need here, not the thick stuff.

Once they are wrapped, season again with more BBQ seasoning on all sides.

Next stop is the air fryer!

Mine fit perfectly in my 5.8 quart air fryer basket.

Set it to 400 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes.

Then use tongs to flip them over.

And air fry 12 to 14 more minutes.

Air Fryer Cheesy Bacon Wrapped Chicken were quite popular with my husband and kids!

I liked mine with a little BBQ sauce but the kids ate theirs plain.

You can expect the outer layer of bacon to be nice and crisp, but the inner layer does not get crispy even though it’s perfectly cooked.

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 1/2 Tbsps BBQ seasoning
  • kosher salt, pepper
  • 6 cubes of cheese (I used colby jack approx 1 inch cubes)
  • 12 slices bacon (regular cut, not thick cut)
  • Optional: BBQ sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the chicken thighs with 1 Tbsp of the BBQ seasoning, kosher salt, and pepper.

  2. Place a cube of cheese in the center of each and roll the chicken around the cheese. Wrap each with two slices of bacon. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 Tbsp BBQ seasoning over the bacon and place them in the air fryer basket.

  3. Set the air fryer to 400 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes, flip them with tongs and air fry 12 to 14 more minutes.

Note: Expect the outer layer of bacon to be crisp, the inner layer of bacon will not be crispy but it is cooked through.

  4. Serve with BBQ sauce on the side for dipping if desired.
