This is perfect to feed a crowd, and has an extra special twist using the burrata cheese.

Burrata is very similar to fresh mozzarella, so you could easily substitute that if your store doesn’t have the burrata.

Lucky for me, my store always has it in stock 🙂

ingredients for the baked ziti dish

Here’s how to make Baked Ziti with Burrata Cheese

Start by boiling the ziti according to the package directions.

Then drain it and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking.

In the same pot that you boiled the pasta, set over medium heat and add a pound of ground Italian sausage.

Cook for a few minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks.

Add in a diced onion once it’s browned and cook another few minutes.

Lots of fresh, minced garlic goes in next.

After the garlic cooks for about a minute add in a 32 ounce jar of your favorite marinara sauce.

And half cup of red wine, the cooked ziti, kosher salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning.

Stir it all up and let it cook for a few minutes.

Just enough time for the flavors to hang out and make friends.

Now we are going to move this party to a 9×13 casserole dish.

First goes in half of the pasta, then a cup of shredded Italian blend cheese and 8 ounces of the burrata cheese.

Simply break the balls of burrata cheese into smaller pieces.

And top it with another cup of Italian blend cheese and 8 more ounces of burrata.

Into a 375 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

And turn the broiler on high for another minute or two for a golden brown cheese on top.
