Pizza Dip with Garlic Knots

Pizza Dip with Garlic Knots

You guys!!! I have the cutest appetizer recipe to share with you today… Pizza Dip with Garlic Knots.

I have made this pizza dip before and dipped with Fritos.

But somehow I envisioned little balls of pizza dough surrounding the dip and all baked together, looking very much like an actual pizza!

I switched gears a bit and went with garlic knots, but I thought it turned out SO cute.

And equally as cheesy and delicious 🙂

How to Make Pizza Dip with Garlic Knots

You’ll need a tube of pizza crust, cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder to start.

ingredients for the dip

Unroll the pizza dough and use a pizza cutter to create about 5 inch strips.

I ended up with 24 strips of pizza dough.

Then tie each one in a knot.

Most of them will fit around a greased pie pan.

The rest of the garlic knots, place on a baking sheet.

To start building the dip, spread 4 ounces of cream cheese (at room temperature) in the center of the pie pan.

I used a spoon and then ended up just pressing with my hands.

Next goes some pizza sauce, mozzarella, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

For the inner layer of pepperoni I cut the slices into fourths.

adding diced pepperoni

Repeat with another layer of pizza sauce, more cheese, Italian seasoning, and few whole slices of pepperoni.

The center will be taller than the garlic knots, but the knots will puff up as they cook.

Mix together some melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning together.

And brush on the pizza dough.

Butter both the ones in the dip and the extras on the baking sheet.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 to 22 minutes.

The extra garlic knots on the baking sheet will be done in about 11 to 14 minutes.

Serve Pizza Dip with Garlic Knots with some parsley over top if desired 🙂

Let it cool slightly, even though it looks SO tempting to dig in right away!

We used a spoon to get maximum pizza dip on each garlic bread piece.

Crushed red pepper flakes for a little heat would be a great addition too.

Ingredients

  • 1 14 oz tube pizza dough
  • 4 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • 2/3 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • garlic powder, Italian seasoning
  • 15 to 20 pepperoni slices
  • 3 Tbsps melted butter
  • Optional: parsley

Instructions

  1. Unroll the pizza dough and use a pizza cutter to cut into about 5 inch strips, I had 24 strips total. Tie each one in a knot and place around the edge of a greased pie pan. About 3/4 of the knots will fit around the pie pan. Place the rest on a baking sheet.

  2. Put the cream cheese in the center of the pie pan and use the back of the spoon or your hands to spread evenly in the center of the garlic knots.

  3. Add 1/2 of the pizza sauce, half of the cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and pepperoni. Repeat with one more layer of pizza sauce, cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and pepperoni.

Note: I cut my pepperoni slices into fourths for the inner layer and saved only a few for the top.

  4. Mix some garlic powder and Italian seasoning with the melted butter and brush over the garlic knots. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 to 22 minutes. The garlic knots on the baking sheet will only take 11 to 14 minutes.

  5. Garnish with parsley if desired and dip the garlic knots in the pizza dip.
