Asian BBQ Chicken Wings

Asian BBQ Chicken Wings

I’m a sucker for chicken wings and anything with Asian flavors, so these Asian BBQ Chicken Wings were my recipe gift to myself đŸ˜‰

The inspiration behind these is the Asian Delight BBQ Rub from Savory Spice Shop.

I added some extra ingredients, but this rub is seriously the star of this show.

How to Make Asian BBQ Chicken Wings

I have been loving the whole, non split wings lately.

So I have four pounds in a bowl that I pat dry so the seasoning will stick.

chicken wing marinade ingredients

Add 2 tablespoons of the Asian Delight BBQ Rub along with 3 tablespoons soy sauce, and a tablespoon each garlic and ginger paste.

Mix together with your hands, attempting to coat every bit of the chicken in this flavorful mixture.

You can bake these in the oven on a baking sheet, or cook them on a smoker or pellet grill right on the grate.

Either way you choose to cook, brush the extra seasoning in the bottom of the bowl over the chicken.

If you are going the oven route, cook in a 425 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes.

For the Traeger pellet grill or smoker, set to 250 degrees and cook 2 to 2 1/2 hours, flipping them halfway through.

While the chicken wings are cooking, make the Asian BBQ sauce.

You’ll need more of the Asian Delight BBQ Rub, soy sauce, ketchup. sriracha, honey, and peanut butter.

Sounds like a hot mess, right?!

I pinky promise this combo of flavors works!

sauce ingredients

Just put it all in a saucepan over medium high heat.

Once it starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low and whisk for a minute or two.

If making these on the smoker/ Traeger pellet grill, brush a few times with the sauce during the last half hour.

If baking these in the oven, sauce them during the last 10 minutes.

Either cooking method, make sure they are above 165 degrees before serving.
