Buffalo Chicken Taco Dip
Buffalo Chicken Taco Dip is a fun recipe to mix up traditional taco dip!
It’s the perfect dip to bring to a party, holiday, or game day celebration.
You can prepare it ahead of time and bring it room temperature to serve with tortilla chips or Fritos Scoops.
My thought process was to use ground chicken instead of ground beef, and season with buffalo sauce rather than taco seasoning.
For the sour cream part of a traditional taco dip, I added a packet of dry ranch seasoning since typically buffalo wings are served with ranch.
Now for the topping, you can add blue cheese crumbles and more buffalo sauce if you’d like.
I added blue cheese to half so everyone can choose if they want blue cheese or not.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Taco Dip
Make the buffalo chicken first so it has time to cool before assembling the dip.
You’ll need a pound of ground chicken and your buffalo wing sauce of choice.
Set a skillet over medium heat and add some olive oil and the ground chicken.
Cook for a few minutes and break it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
Drain any extra liquid from the skillet before adding a cup of the buffalo sauce.
Stir until evenly mixed and then set it aside to cool.
Next, combine sour cream with a packet of dry ranch seasoning.
I do this right in the container of sour cream to save washing an extra dish.
To assemble this dip, start by spreading the sour cream and ranch mixture in the bottom of a 9×13 casserole dish.
Then the buffalo chicken over top.
Next layer is two cups of lettuce.
I try to get the lettuce in thin slices, almost like shredded lettuce.
And two cups of shredded cheese of choice.
I went with a Mexican blend.
Now you can leave this alone and serve it just like this…
Or if you are like me, and sometimes are a little “extra” you can add some goodies over top 🙂
Green onions add a little pop of color.
And some mild onion flavor.
.
Blue cheese crumbles are fitting to go with our buffalo theme.
If you are sure everyone loves blue cheese, add it all over.
Or if you aren’t sure, add the blue cheese to only half of the dip.
Drizzle more sauce over the Buffalo Chicken Taco Dip to let everyone know it’s not your average taco dip 🙂
Serve it up with tortilla chips or Fritos Scoops for dipping!
