Bang Bang Mahi Mahi Bowls
It may sound a little redundant calling this dinner recipe Bang Bang Mahi Mahi Bowls, but hey… that’s the actual name of the sauce and the name of the fish.
I paired this viral sauce with my favorite seafood for a fabulous, healthy-ish rice bowl with broccoli made in my air fryer.
By using nonfat plain yogurt in place of the traditional mayo, it added some protein and cut quite a few calories.
.

How to make Bang Bang Mahi Mahi Bowls
First, we will make the sweet and spicy sauce by combining 1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt (or mayo) with 1/3 cup sweet Thai chili sauce.
A little sriracha, stir, and boom… you have bang bang sauce!

Next cut 4 fillets of mahi mahi into bite size chunks.

And place them into a bowl.

Then crack an egg and beat with a fork in one bowl.
And in another bowl combine 1/2 cup flour with kosher salt, pepper, and any favorite seasoning blend you have.
I am using my Blackstone Honey Jalapeno seasoning to add to the sweet and spicy vibes.

Set up a breading station right next to your air fryer basket just like this.

Dip each mahi bite in the egg, then into the seasoned flour, and into the air fryer basket.

Spray with olive oil and set the air fryer to 400 degrees for 8 minutes.

A little golden brown but not overcooked is what we are going for here.

Add the broccoli after removing the fish from the air fryer.
Spray broccoli with more olive oil and season with kosher salt, pepper, and seasoning blend of choice.
While the broccoli cooks for 8 minutes at 400 degrees, microwave the rice pouches and start assembling the bowls.

Divide the cooked rice between 4 bowls, toss the mahi mahi with some of the bang bang sauce and place over top.
Finally add the broccoli when it’s done in the air fryer.

Serve Bang Bang Mahi Mahi Bowls with the remaining sauce over top and enjoy 🙂
Leftovers were super good warmed up the next day too!

Instructions
-
Put mayo or yogurt, sweet Thai chili sauce, and sriracha in a bowl. Stir until combined to make the bang bang sauce.
-
Cut the mahi mahi into bite size chunks. Crack the egg in a bowl and beat with a fork. Put flour, kosher salt, pepper, and a seasoning blend (if using) in another bowl, stir until combined.

Dip each mahi bite in the egg and then coat with the flour. Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray olive oil cooking spray over top of the mahi bites.
