Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

This wonderful man of mine asked me to make a recipe for Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings…well he got them 🙂

If you haven’t figured out by now, my husband is spoiled rotten.

I also will say I don’t mind spoiling him with chicken wings and yummy food because he’s pretty freaking amazing.

Our weekends around here are pretty laid back and simple, and always involve some sort of fun weekend snack instead of a regular meal.

This weekend’s snack was enjoyed by all.

How to make the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

This is five pounds of jumbo split chicken wings that I pat dry with paper towels.

And then tossed with olive oil, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes.

Next stop was the smoker or Traeger pellet grill set to 250 degrees for two and a half hours.

You can bake these if you don’t have a smoker on a lined baking sheet.

They will bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.

I flipped the wings halfway through smoking.

And during the last half hour I brushed them with the garlic parmesan sauce.

To make the sauce just add a cup and a half of your favorite buffalo sauce to a saucepan (I used Frank’s).

Next add some grated parmesan cheese, garlic paste or minced garlic, and some butter.

Bring this mixture to a boil and simmer just one minute.

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds jumbo split chicken wings
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 cups buffalo wings sauce (I used Frank's)
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (plus more to sprinkle over top when serving)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsps garlic paste or fresh minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsps butter

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings dry with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl and add the olive oil, garlic powder, Old Bay, and crushed red pepper flakes. Toss until evenly mixed.

  2. Put the buffalo sauce, parmesan cheese, garlic, and butter in a small saucepan. Bring just to a boil and simmer 1 minute, stirring until evenly mixed. Set aside.

  3. Cook the chicken wings either of these two ways:

In the smoker: Place the chicken wings in a smoker set to 250 degrees for two and a half hours. Flip them halfway through. Brush with the garlic parmesan sauce during the last half hour of cooking. Check the internal temp to make sure they are at 170 degrees before serving.

In the oven: Place wings on a lined baking sheet and put in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes, flip them halfway through. Brush with the garlic parmesan sauce during the last 15 minutes of cooking.

  4. Serve the wings with remaining garlic parmesan sauce and sprinkle with extra parmesan cheese.
