Chopped Caprese Salad
This easy Chopped Caprese Salad recipe may be the lazy way to enjoy a caprese salad, but I promise it’s just as delicious!
A traditional caprese salad has tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, and basil placed on a plate and it looks very beautiful.
This is my way of not having to take the time to strategically layer and arrange them in a fancy way.

I knew I had to do something extra special with my first garden tomatoes of the year 🙂

How to make Chopped Caprese Salad
I diced them and put them in a bowl.
Then chopped some fresh mozzarella cheese.
It’s pretty important that you use fresh mozzarella, and not the regular block of mozzarella cheese.
They are very different from each other.

After the tomatoes and mozzarella are chopped, add some balsamic vinegar, olive oil, sugar, Italian seasoning, fresh basil, kosher salt, and pepper.

Toss these gorgeous ingredients together until evenly mixed, and taste for seasoning.
I added a bit more kosher salt and pepper to mine.
This salad can be served right away, or if you are entertaining or if you want to make it ahead of time.
It’s perfect if you refrigerate it for a few hours.
Chopped Caprese Salad is great served just like this, or you can toast some Italian bread and serve on the side for dipping, or topping.

I made mine kind of like a Caprese Bruschetta and it was so, so good!
