Tacos and Tequila Grilled Chicken…quite possibly one of the greatest recipe combos of all time!

This version combines taco seasoned chicken breasts with a sweet and spicy tequila glaze.

It create a unique and flavorful dinner, and without the hangover.

Tacos and Tequila Grilled Chicken is a new favorite in our family đŸ™‚

You’ll start by making your own taco seasoning.

Simply combine chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cumin, cinnamon, and ground red pepper.

Next step is making the tequila glaze.

In a saucepan, whisk together tequila, honey, the juice of one orange and one lime, plus some lime zest, hot sauce, and a spoonful of the taco seasoning.

Bring this mixture to a boil, reduce to simmer for 10 minutes.

Tacos and Tequila Chicken Wings

Brush 4 chicken breasts with olive oil and season with the remaining taco seasoning.

Tacos and Tequila Grilled Chicken

Grill for a few minutes per side and then brush both sides with the tequila glaze.

Grill a few more minutes per side.

The glaze will get nice and caramelized đŸ™‚

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground red pepper
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 6 oz honey
  • 3 Tbsps fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 3 Tbsps fresh squeezed lime juice
  • zest of half of a lime
  • 2 Tbsps hot sauce
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl combine chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, cumin, pepper, cinnamon, and ground red pepper. Stir until evenly combined and set aside.

  2. In a saucepan combine tequila, honey, orange juice, lime juice, lime zest, hot sauce, and 2 tsps of the taco seasoning. Whisk together, bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. The mixture will thicken more as it cools.

  3. Brush the chicken with olive oil and season both sides with the remaining taco seasoning.

  4. Grill the chicken 3-4 minutes per side. Brush both sides with the tequila glaze and grill for another 2 minutes per side.

  5. Serve with extra tequila glaze for dipping.
