Baked Italian Subs with Cherry Pepper Aioli
This super easy dinner idea happens to be one of my family’s favorites, so I had to share this quick recipe for Baked Italian Subs with Cherry Pepper Aioli with you.
There’s also a high protein option of preparing this aioli with blended cottage cheese!
How to make Baked Italian Subs with Cherry Pepper Aioli
First start with some mayo or cottage cheese in your blender or food processor.
Then add some garlic, lemon juice, a few cherry peppers plus a little brine from the jar, kosher salt, and pepper.
And blend for about a minute or until smooth.

Next place the bottom halves of a few sub buns on a baking sheet.
And add some sliced deli ham.

Then some salami and cheese of choice, really any other deli meat as well.
I didn’t have sliced cheese so I went with shredded.
Place the baking sheet in a 375-degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes.
Then add the top sub buns on the baking sheet, cut side up, for a few more minutes until warm and toasty.

Add plenty of this cherry pepper aioli and any other toppings you like.

I kept mine simple with shredded lettuce, but tomato or onions would be great additions.

Baked Italian Subs with Cherry Pepper Aioli is one of the most simple dinners, and in my house, those are always the best meals 🙂

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup mayo (or cottage cheese for a healthier version)
- 3 to 5 cherry peppers (plus 2 teaspoons of the brine from the cherry pepper jar) stems removed
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic
- kosher salt, pepper
- 4 sub buns
- 8 to 12 slices deli ham
- 8 to 12 slices salami
- 4 to 8 slices provolone cheese
- shredded lettuce
Instructions
-
Put the mayo (or cottage cheese) in a food processor or blender along with the cherry peppers plus brine, lemon juice, garlic, kosher salt, and pepper. Blend 1 minute.
-
Put the bottom sub buns on a baking sheet and top each with ham, salami, and cheese. Place in a 375-degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes. Place the top sub buns on the baking sheet, cut side up (but not on the sandwiches) and bake for 4 to 5 more minutes.
-
Add the cherry pepper aioli, lettuce, and top bun. Serve warm.
Note: If you have any cherry pepper aioli left, it's so good as a dip for pita chips or store in the fridge to use on different sandwiches or wraps.
