Root Beer Float Pie
This super simple dessert recipe has only 5 ingredients, and it’s perfect for a cool, refreshing summer treat… meet Root Beer Float Pie!!
She may not be the prettiest, but she’s fuuuuullllll of personality 😉
I saw a similar recipe for Dr. Pepper pie, but with LOTS of steps and ingredients… so I simplified this and used root beer to make it my own creation.
You could certainly still use the Dr. Pepper (maybe top with cherries) and still follow the easy steps and shortcuts I created.
How to make Root Beer Float Pie
First thaw an 8 ounce container of Cool Whip and put it in a large bowl.
Then add a box of instant vanilla pudding.
The combo of the instant pudding and whipped topping is what will thicken this pie.
Next pour in a 12 ounce can or bottle of root beer.
Since this is where the flavor is coming from, I splurged and got a really good brand.
For a boozy version you could use a hard root beer!
Mix this together with a hand mixer for about 2 minutes.
Then pour into a 10 inch graham cracker pie crust.
Most pie crusts are 6 inches, so make sure you get the big one so all the filling fits.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 5 hours.
And if you want it extra cold and slightly frozen, transfer it to the freezer for 45 minutes before serving.
Decorate with whipped cream right before serving Root Beer Float Pie 🙂
