Caramelized Onion Gruyere Cheese Dip
After making a huge batch of Slow Cooker Caramelized Onions, this Caramelized Onion Gruyere Cheese Dip was my final recipe that I used them in.
And it may be one of my favorite dips ever!
So cheesy and creamy, the slight sweetness and tremendous flavor of the onions, and that unique pop of the gruyere cheese.
And, since the onions were already cooked and good to go, it took only minutes to assemble.
How to Make Caramelized Onion Gruyere Cheese Dip
Spray a casserole dish or cast iron skillet with non stick spray.
Then add 2 cups caramelized onions, a block of cream cheese, 3/4 cup mayo, 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella, and some chives.
The gruyere cheese came in a 5 ounce block, so I shredded that and added the gruyere in as well.
Place this in a 325 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes, no need to mix at first.
After the 20 to 25 minutes, stir it all together just like this.
It will be nice and melty and will come together easily.
A little more cheese and chives over top to make it extra pretty.
Then back into the oven for a few minutes so the cheese melts over top.
Serve Caramelized Onion Gruyere Cheese Dip with chips or toasted bread for dipping 🙂
I sliced a French baguette, brushed each slice with olive oil and seasoned with kosher salt and pepper.
Then baked in a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes.
But it was just as yummy the next day with Fritos Scoops!
