Chili Cheese Dog Pizza
This fun and easy Chili Cheese Dog Pizza recipe is basically a cheese coney in pizza form.
I am fully prepared for most people to think “What???? Hot dogs on a pizza?!….that’s weird”.
But if you are from the Cincinnati area, you get it.
We love our cheese coneys around here.
You could use leftover homemade chili or a can of chili from the store.
I am using canned and a store bought pizza dough rolled out 12 to 14 inches.
Most stores have premade pizza dough in the freezer section or deli section.
You could also try going to a local pizza restaurant and asking if you can buy just the uncooked dough. I’ve done that a few times.
How to Make Chili Cheese Dog Pizza
Add a little cornmeal in a thin layer on the baking sheet before adding the pizza dough.
This will prevent sticking and also give a nice texture to the crust.
Spread the chili evenly over the pizza crust dough.
I try to get it as close to the edges as possible without going over.
And slice up two hot dogs.
Then pile on the mild shredded cheese and sliced hot dogs.
And bake in a 400 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on how thick the crust is.
My kids were so excited about this Chili Cheese Dog Pizza!
We had it with hot sauce, because that’s how we like our cheese coneys.
You could add some raw diced onion over top too, that’s another popular coney topping.
