Jalapeno Pepper Jack Burgers

Jalapeno Pepper Jack Burgers

My kids are the little geniuses behind this recipe for Jalapeno Pepper Jack Burgers.

I’m not even sure how the conversation started, but it ended with them begging me to make these burgers as soon as possible.

They are spice lovers just like my husband and I, but these didn’t end up overwhelmingly spicy.

Just the right amount of kick and with a great flavor.

How to make Jalapeno Pepper Jack Burgers

When making four burgers, I like to use a pound and a half of ground beef.

You end up with the perfect size burger in my opinion.

A pound to make four burgers just isn’t big enough for me, especially since they get smaller as they cook.

So we have a pound and a half of ground beef, two jalapenos, and an 8 ounce block pepper jack cheese.

ingredients on cutting board

Mince the jalapenos and leave out the seeds for less spice, or add some seeds if you are going for a spicier burger.

For the cheese, cut half of the block into tiny cubes.

Slice up the other half and set aside to top the burger.

Combine the ground beef, minced jalapeno, and cheese cubes in a bowl along with worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, and pepper.

I feel like the only way to mix burgers is by hand.

It took about a minute for everything to come together.

Then, using your hand, score across and down the center to roughly divide into fourths.

This will increase your chances of equal sized burgers.

I have to say these look gorgeous with the green jalapeno and blocks of pepper jack cheese showing đŸ™‚

Ready for the Grill

Typically I grill my burgers for 4 to 5 minutes per side over a medium high heat.

Buuuuuuutttt….I just got a brand new Traeger pellet grill, upgraded from my Pro 34 to Ironwood 885.

So I decided to smoke these on the new grill addition.

If you smoke them, they will take an hour at 250 degrees.

And flip them halfway through.

We went with mayo mixed with ketchup and hot sauce, adding to the spicy theme of these burgers.

And a little lettuce and pickle.
