Slow Cooker Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip is a must try again soon appetizer!
I brought this dip to Thanksgiving as an appetizer, and it was just as big of a hit as the actual Thanksgiving feast!
Everyone just kept saying how amazing it was and how unique.
This dish doesn’t require much work, but it is a time investment.
Only because it takes 8 to 10 hours for the onions in the slow cooker.
I would recommend being home because you do have to stir it a few times.
Luckily though this can be made several days in advance, stored in the fridge, and warmed in the microwave when serving.
Here’s how to make Slow Cooker Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip
Thinly slice 4 yellow onions and place them in the slow cooker.

Then add 3 Tbsps balsamic vinegar, 3 Tbsps brown sugar, and 3 Tbsps butter.
Season with kosher salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.
And set the slow cooker to low for 8 to 10 hours, stirring a few times throughout.

They turn a beautiful golden brown, caramel color…YUM!

Once the onions are gorgeously caramelized, add in a block of cream cheese, 3/4 cup mayo, 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, and some chopped chives.
Oh…and a pound of cooked and crumbled bacon!

Let the dip cook for another 30 minutes on low, stirring it a few times.
Once it’s all melted together you know it’s ready 🙂

I topped my Slow Cooker Caramelized Onion and Bacon Dip with a little more cheese, bacon, and chives.
I’m a little extra sometimes 😉
Serve this dip with crackers or toasted french bread.
I sliced a french baguette, brushed each slice with olive oil and seasoned with kosher salt and pepper.
Then baked in a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes.
