Air Fryer Salmon Cakes
Air Fryer Salmon Cakes are quite the treat, especially served with a homemade Old Bay Aioli recipe:)
I love a good crab cake!
This recipe is very similar to the crab cakes I make, but using salmon!
You do have to plan ahead when making these, because the salmon cakes need an hour in the fridge after making them to set up before cooking.
I started mine right when I got home from work so they were ready to cook at dinner time.
Here is how to make Air Fryer Salmon Cakes
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil, diced red pepper, onion, and celery.
Season this with kosher salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.
Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes, then add lemon juice, fresh dill, garlic, and Old Bay seasoning.
Stir until evenly mixed for a minute and remove from heat.
Let the cooked pepper and onion mixture come to room temp before adding a pound of cooked salmon, panko bread crumbs, and beaten eggs.
If you add the eggs while still hot you’ll end up with scrambled eggs…not good for making salmon cakes.
For the salmon you could use either canned salmon or cooked fresh salmon that you’ve flaked into smaller pieces.
Form this mixture into 8 salmon cakes with your hands and place on a lined tray.
Then place in the fridge for an hour.
Place 4 cakes at a time into the air fryer, or if you have a bigger air fryer you may be able to fit all of them.
Set the air fryer to 370 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
Just look at those gorgeous, golden brown Air Fryer Salmon Cakes!
While these beauties were in the air fryer I whipped up an Old Bay Aioli.
Simply mix together mayo, Old Bay, lemon juice, garlic, and Sriracha.
Also served them with extra lemon wedges to squeeze over top 🙂
