Stir Fry Japanese BBQ Ramen Noodles

Stir Fry Japanese BBQ Ramen Noodles

Stir Fry Japanese BBQ Ramen Noodles is a budget friendly recipe that is actually fit for a king!

You can add chicken or leave it out for a vegetarian version.

Let me just say, something magical happens when you stir fry ramen noodles… like a slight crisp on the outer noodles but still a soft at the same time.

ingredients for the recipe

Plus it only has a few ingredients thanks to our one star ingredient… Japanese BBQ sauce!

Which I pinkly promise is NOT like regular BBQ sauce at all.

You can easily substitute hoisin sauce if you can’t find this sauce, though.

How to make Stir Fry Japanese BBQ Ramen Noodles

First boil 3 packs of ramen noodles according to the package directions.

It really doesn’t matter what flavor because we will not use the actual flavor packet.

Then drain and rinse the noodles very well with cold water to prevent them from overcooking.

I like to have my ingredients all prepped and ready to go because stir fry dishes cook pretty fast.

prepped ingredients ready for the dish

Set a large skillet or wok over medium high heat and add some cooking oil along with a diced onion, a pound of chicken, kosher salt, and pepper.

I cut my chicken thighs into bite size pieces.

But the chicken is optional in case you want a vegetarian or a more simple noodle dish.

starting the chicken and onions in a large skillet

Cook the chicken and onions in the skillet or wok for 3 to 4 minutes.

Then add some minced garlic.

And the cooked ramen, 1/3 cup of the Japanese sauce, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, a tablespoon or two of sriracha, and 4 tablespoons butter.

Cook this for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring together and pressing the noodles into the pan to get that slight crisp.

Finally add a bunch of sliced green onions and cook another minute or so.

Stir Fry Japanese BBQ Ramen Noodles is not your average, boring bowl of ramen 😉

This dish is awesome just like this.

Or you can add sesame seeds, more of the Japanese sauce, and yum yum sauce if you’d like.
