Fritos Walking Taco Casserole

Fritos Walking Taco Casserole

My husband gave me the recipe idea of Fritos Walking Taco Casserole literally months ago.

I finally made it happen last week.

Let’s just say it was so good that after my son took his first bite he said “Yeah, I’m gonna need seconds of this!”

My daughter was like “You still have a whole plate.” His response was hilarious…he said “Take your first bite and then you’ll know!”

Usually we have leftovers. but this was devoured in record time and already being requested again.

Maybe this time I won’t wait several months to make it đŸ˜‰

How to Make Fritos Walking Taco Casserole

Very simple ingredients, basically everything you would have in a regular walking taco.

A whole bag of Fritos, ground beef and taco seasoning, queso cheese dip, and shredded cheese.

ingredients for casserole

First, make the taco meat according to the packet directions on the seasoning.

Mine cooked in a skillet over medium heat and once the meat was browned I drained the extra grease, added the taco seasoning, and 2/3 cup water.

Let that cook a few more minutes.

And pour the whole bag of Fritos in a casserole dish.

Press down slightly to break a few apart.

Put the taco meat over the Fritos in an even, or at least somewhat even, layer.

Then queso cheese goes over top.

Mine came in a drizzle bottle, but if yours comes in a jar, just use a spoon to drizzle it over the taco meat.

Finally two cups of shredded cheese over top.

I used Mexican blend cheese, but cheddar or Colby Jack would work too.

Pop this into a 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

And while it bakes, set out the toppings.

I set out shredded lettuce, sour cream, pickled jalapenos, and hot sauce.

Everyone can pile on their toppings of choice on Fritos Walking Taco Casserole, mix it all around, and enjoy!

This was our dinner, but this would also be a great game day snack or something fun to bring to a party.
