Thai Basil Beef
This easy Thai Basil Beef recipe is authentic and super big on flavor!
Growing Thai basil in my garden this year has me trying it in more and more recipes!
This recipe is from my sister in law, Sumintra, that she got from her mom who is from Thailand.
The spice comes from these red chili peppers, that I also grew in my garden.
If you cannot find red chili peppers in the store, just use either jalapeno peppers or serrano peppers.

How to Make Thai Basil Beef
First set a wok over medium low heat and add 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil.
Once the oil is hot, add 3 to 4 sliced red chili peppers, a thinly sliced onion, and some minced garlic.
Let this cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring a few times.

Then add a thinly sliced red bell pepper, a pound of thinly sliced steak, 1/3 cup oyster sauce and 1 1/2 Tablespoons soy sauce.
For the steak I used sirloin and instead of regular soy sauce I used mushroom soy sauce. It has a deeper flavor compared to traditional soy sauce.
Turn the heat to medium high and let this cook 5 to 6 minutes.

Steamy, steamy….it’s hot in here as you can see 🙂
Add a good amount of Thai basil leaves and cook 1 more minute.

Yes…this was just as delicious as it looks!

We served Thai Basil Beef over some cooked jasmine rice and a fried egg over top

I really cannot describe the amount of flavor from just a few simple ingredients.

The heat from the chilis was on point and the sauce created from breaking the egg yolk was decadent and the whole dish was just amazing 🙂
