Blackened Catfish with Old Bay Aioli

Blackened Catfish with Old Bay Aioli

This recipe for Blackened Catfish with Old Bay Aioli is how I treated myself one afternoon, and it can be made in a skillet or your Blackstone flat top griddle 🙂

I made myself a nice lunch and ate it in peace and quiet when the kids were gone.

So what else would I do besides take a selfie with my dog (which is perfectly normal to do, right?!)…

How to make Blackened Catfish with Old Bay Aioli

This is such a simple dish to make, yet extra yummy!

It starts with catfish fillets that you pat dry with paper towels.

This creates a nice crispiness.

Then sprinkle with blackened seasoning… I used Emeril’s, but any blackening or Cajun seasoning would be good.

Another trick is using a heavy skillet, like cast iron if possible… or your Blackstone griddle.

And get it pretty nice and hot over medium high heat.

Add some butter and olive oil, then the catfish cooks for 3-4 minutes per side.

Catfish will naturally release from the pan when it’s ready, so if it sticks just give it another minute before flipping.

Aioli might sound like a fancy sauce, but really it just means mayonnaise seasoned with garlic.

Simply mix some mayo, garlic, lemon juice, and Old Bay seasoning and voila…you have Old Bay Aioli 🙂

Serve these gorgeous blackened catfish fillets with some Old Bay Aioli.

When plating my blackened catfish, I actually got a little teary eyed as I used this ramekin for the first time.

A very special student gave me a whole set of these different colored ramekins for Teacher Appreciation Week.
