True story…it’s Christmas Eve and my family requested that I make my recipe for Maple Bourbon Candied Bacon. Well…I used all the bourbon to make the Bourbon Brined Turkey. SOOO…what’s a girl to do?! I know! Use Fireball instead to create Fireball Whiskey Candied Bacon!

How to Make Fireball Whiskey Candied Bacon 🙂

This is a pound of deli sliced bacon that was cut super thick.

I like to get the deli sliced bacon because it’s all the same thickness.

That way it’s more evenly cooked without a burnt spot here and an undone spot there.

Maple Bourbon Candied Bacon

I cut the bacon slices into thirds and put them in a bowl.

Then mixed in some Fireball Whiskey, brown sugar, cinnamon, and some ground red pepper for a bit of heat.

You could certainly leave the bacon slices whole if you prefer.

For me I kind of liked that they were cute, bite size pieces.

And I didn’t feel as bad about having more than one of them 😉

Fireball Whiskey Candied Bacon

Lay the bacon on a wire rack over a lined baking sheet.

Trust me, you’re going to need to line that baking sheet with either foil or parchment paper for clean up sake.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30-40 minutes.

It really depends on the bacon thickness.

All ovens run at slightly different temperatures also, so keep checking it after the 30 minute mark to make sure it isn’t getting overdone.

No one likes burnt whiskey candied bacon.

Fireball Whiskey Candied Bacon

After 30-40 minutes in the oven I find the best thing to do is carefully remove them while still hot onto a plate to cool.

There will be less chance of sticking to the wire rack if you remove them while hot.

Fireball Whiskey Candied Bacon will harden more as they cool and come to room temperature.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thick cut bacon
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Fireball Whiskey
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp ground red pepper for spice

Instructions

  1. Cut the thick cut bacon into thirds and place in a bowl.

  2. Add the brown sugar, Fireball, cinnamon, and ground red pepper (if using). Toss until evenly coated.

  3. Place the bacon pieces on a wire baking rack over a lined baking sheet. Place in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes. Cook time will depend on how thick the bacon is cut.

  4. Carefully transfer to a plate while still warm (to prevent sticking) and let cool. The bacon will harden as it comes to room temp.
