Thick Cut Ribeyes with Activated Charcoal Rub
Steak with Activated Charcoal Rub was highly recommended from the guy that owned the shop.
And of course I was intrigued and had to try it in a grilling recipe!
Your first thought may be… is this woman crazy for rubbing charcoal on steak?!
Honestly, I was a little skeptical too.
My husband and I took a little road trip to a butcher shop that’s known for their extra thick cut steaks, sauces, and seasonings.
I’m so glad I did because this stuff is amazing!
When we got home, the husband and I opened it up, both of us afraid to try it thinking it might actually taste like charcoal…
But no, it’s delicious and has such a unique flavor I couldn’t even describe it.

So really, this recipe has only 2 ingredients…the thick cut ribeyes and the activated charcoal rub.
These gorgeous ribeyes were 1 and 3/4 inch thick!
You could use this rub on any steak or pork, and I highly recommend that you do.
Seasoned both sides with a good amount of this rub, press it into the meat a bit, and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Grill over medium high heat for 4 to 6 minutes per side for a nice medium rare to medium temperature.

I know, I know…it looks burnt.
I almost doubted posting this recipe because, well, it looks like burnt steak.
Pinky promises that the activated charcoal makes this freakishly out of this world delicious and easily my new favorite steak recipe! 🙂

Side items to go with this steak with activated charcoal rub could be…
Grilled Caesar Salad
Cheesy Smashed Potatoes
or Cheesy Ranch Potatoes!
Air Fryer Side Dishes
