Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles

Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles

Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles is a cross between sausage biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles made in a skillet or Blackstone griddle!

I made this as part of my Cincinnati Bengals Game Day Snack Series when they played the Falcons in Spain and the game started at 9:30 am at the same time as Blackstone Peach Maple Bacon Chicken and Waffles!

But this would be a fabulous breakfast, brunch, or camping dish to make.

And if you don’t love spice, just use traditional goetta and leave out the hot sauce, and breakfast sausage can be used if you can’t find goetta.

How to make Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles

Cook some chicken tenders either in the oven or air fryer according to package directions.

I am making this on my Blackstone griddle so I used my Blackstone air fryer.

adding chicken to air fryer

Then set a large skillet or your Blackstone griddle over medium heat.

Add the spicy goetta to the skillet or griddle and cook 5 to 6 minutes, breaking it apart with spatulas.

adding goetta to griddle

Transfer the goetta to a large skillet if you cooked this on your griddle and place the skillet on the griddle.

To the skillet with the goetta, add a tablespoon of butter and 1/4 cup flour and cook 2 to 3 minutes, mixing.

Pour 2 1/2 cups whole milk into the skillet (either on the stove or your griddle) along with kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes, and hot sauce.

Let this simmer for 8 to 12 minutes, mixing a few times.

Lightly toast or warm the waffles either in your air fryer, oven, or place them on the griddle for a few minutes.

Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles

Assemble Spicy Goetta Chicken and Waffles with a crispy chicken tender on each waffle and top with the goetta gravy with more hot sauce if desired 🙂

If the goetta gravy gets too thick, stir in a little more milk.
