Stir Fried Garlic Ramen Noodles

This is a super cheap recipe and easy meal or side dish recipe, a very welcome change from traditional ramen… Stir Fried Garlic Ramen Noodles!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a big bowl of ramen noodles served the way they were intended to be (well, except maybe the sodium content đŸ˜‰ ).

But this recipe mixes things up by stir frying the noodles.

And jazzing up the flavor a bit with ingredients you probably have laying around anyway.

It’s a great vegetarian meal, or you can add protein of choice like chicken or shrimp if you’d like.

How to make Stir Fried Garlic Ramen Noodles

First boil 3 packs of ramen noodles, but throw away the flavor pack.

When draining the noodles rinse very well with cold water to prevent them from becoming mushy.

Then set a large skillet or wok over medium high heat and add some vegetable oil and a diced onion.

Cook the onion for a few minutes, then add lots of freshly minced garlic.

Next add the cooked noodles, teriyaki or hoisin sauce, soy sauce, butter, and 2 eggs.

Mix this together in the skillet or wok for a few minutes.

And add some freshly chopped cilantro or green onions.

Cook for a few more minutes in the skillet or wok.

Remove when the noodles are cooked the way you prefer.

I cooked mine on the longer side because I liked how crispy the noodles got the longer they cooked.

Top stir fried garlic ramen noodles with sesame seeds if you’d like đŸ™‚

I served this as a side dish with grilled Thai chicken skewers and it was a perfect combo!

You could also set out some yum yum sauce and sriracha to top these noodles.

Ingredients

  • 3 packages ramen noodles (any flavor, throw out flavor packet)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 6 to 7 cloves garlic
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons teriyaki or hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions or chopped cilantro
  • Optional: sesame seeds, yum yum sauce, sriracha, protein of choice like chicken or shrimp

Instructions

  1. Boil the noodles according to package directions (throw away flavor packet), drain and rinse very well with cold water.

  2. Set a large skillet or wok over medium high heat. Add the vegetable oil and the onion, cook a minute or two.

  3. Add the garlic and cook for about 45 seconds and then add the cooked noodles, teriyaki or hoisin sauce, soy sauce, butter, and eggs.

  4. Cook the noodles 5 to 6 minutes, stirring and mixing everything together. Press noodles into the skillet or wok with spatula to create crispy parts of the noodles if desired.

  5. Add the green onions or cilantro and cook 1 to 2 more minutes. Taste for seasoning and add more teriyaki or hoisin and/or soy sauce if needed. Serve with sesame seeds, yum yum sauce, and/or sriracha and any cooked protein of choice if desired.
