Grilled Fish and Poblano Tacos

Grilled Fish and Poblano Tacos

Grilled Fish and Poblano Tacos are a pretty healthy recipe but without that healthy meal feel.

Both the fish and peppers are simply seasoned with olive oil and Old Bay seasoning.

And these tacos are extra simple thanks to a Southwest salad kit.

I used the lettuce mix for the tacos along with the cilantro lime dressing packet and the crunchy topping packet.

How to Make Grilled Fish and Poblano Tacos

I am using four tilapia fillets for the fish.

Pat them dry with paper towels and then brush both sides with olive oil.

Then cut two poblano peppers in half lengthwise.

And remove the seeds and stem.

Brush the poblanos with olive oil as well and season both sides of the fish and peppers with Old Bay seasoning.

Preheat the grill to medium high heat for a few minutes.

You’ll need to put the fish in a grilling basket because they would be way too delicate to grill on the grates.

If you don’t have a grill basket I would suggest putting some foil on the grill and placing the fish on the foil to prevent it from falling apart.

The poblanos can go right on the grates.

The fish and peppers will cook 6 to 7 minutes total, flipping halfway through.

And the great char on the poblanos is just what you want đŸ™‚

This will make about 6 tacos if using the soft taco size tortillas.

I like to warm the tortillas and then add some of the lettuce mix from the salad kit, sliced poblanos, and some of the fish flaked apart.

Then drizzle the cilantro lime dressing from the salad kit.

An avocado ranch salad kit would be great if you can’t find the Southwest salad kit.

These salad kits are little mom hack that I use often to make dinner a little easier đŸ™‚

The salad kit also comes with a crunchy packet of goodness that I added over top for some texture.

Mine had tortilla strips and pepitas, which are toasted pumpkin seeds.

Grilled Fish and Poblano Tacos made for a pretty amazing Taco Tuesday đŸ™‚

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 2 poblano peppers
  • olive oil, Old Bay seasoning
  • 6 soft taco size tortillas
  • 1 Southwest salad kit (you could also use an Avocado Ranch salad kit)
  • Optional: hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Cut the poblano peppers in half lengthwise, cut off the stems, and remove the seeds.

  2. Brush the tilapia and poblano peppers with olive oil and season both sides with Old Bay.

  3. Put the tilapia in a grilling basket to prevent sticking to the grill. Preheat the grill to medium high for several minutes.

  4. Put the grill basket on the grill and put the poblanos on the grill grates for 6 to 7 minutes, flipping both halfway through.

  5. Warm the soft tortillas and add some of the lettuce mix from the salad kit to each tortilla. Slice the grilled poblanos, break the fish into smaller pieces, and add both to the tacos.

Note: You will have some of the lettuce mix leftover.

  6. Drizzle the dressing that comes with the salad kit over top and add the crunchy topping packet. Serve with hot sauce if desired.
