Pepper Jelly and Cream Cheese Bites

Pepper Jelly and Cream Cheese Bites

Pepper Jelly and Cream Cheese Bites have the recipe trifecta!

A holiday or party appetizer that looks elegant, can be made ahead of time, and served at room temp…Yes, it does exist!

I find that’s the biggest struggle when either going to a party or having one myself, something that is equally stunning and easy to serve and not have to worry about keeping it hot.

The ingredients are simple enough as well.

Red pepper jelly and a container of cream cheese.

And a roll of puff pastry!

That’s pretty much it 🙂

Thaw the puff pastry sheet at room temp for about 15 minutes.

Then carefully unfold it and roll on a floured surface.

And cut into 12 equal pieces.

I mean, these are equal-ish and perfectly fine.

They are slightly rectangle in shape since we cut them into 12 pieces.

Spray a muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray and place the pieces of puff pastry dough into each one.

Press down them down slightly as well.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on how crisp you want them.

I like mine a little on the softer side so I went with 10 minutes.

The reason puff pastry is named puff pastry is because, well…it puffs as it cooks.

If yours puffed too much no worries, just use a spoon to press the center down to make room for the filling.

First goes in a spoonful of cream cheese, only 6 ounces of the container.

Next goes a spoonful of the red pepper jelly.

And back into the 400 degree oven for another 6 to 8 minutes.

Garnish with fresh thyme if you want to add a little something extra special.

Once they are at room temp, or at least slightly cooled you can remove them from the muffin tin.

Pepper Jelly and Cream Cheese Bites are great served slightly warm or at room temp.

They are a little messier when they are on the warm side, but still worth every bite!

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • flour (for flouring the surface where you roll the puff pastry)
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 6 oz red pepper jelly
  • Optional: fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Leave the puff pastry sheet at room temp for 15 minutes. Then carefully unfold and lay flat on a floured surface. Roll the puff pastry sheets with a rolling pin lightly and cut the sheet into 12 equal pieces.

  2. Spray a muffin tin with the non stick spray and put a puff pastry piece in each, push them in slightly. Put in a 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes (depending on how crisp you want them).

Note: If they puff up too much just use a spoon to push the center down slightly.

  3. Spoon the cream cheese in each puff pastry piece and a spoonful of the red pepper jelly over the cream cheese. Put back into the 400 degree oven for 6 to 8 more minutes.

  4. Let them cool slightly before removing them from the muffin tins. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired.
