Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions diced
  • kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder
  • 1 12 ounce bottle chili sauce
  • 1 20 ounce bottle ketchup
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
Instructions
  1. Set a large pot over medium to medium low heat. Add the olive oil and onions. Cook 12 to 15 minutes, stirring a few times. They should be soft and tender, not brown, so lower heat as they cook if needed.

  2. Season with kosher salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chili sauce, ketchup, sugar, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, and horseradish.

  3. Let this simmer over medium low heat for an hour or more, stirring a few times.

  4. Taste for seasoning and add more kosher salt, garlic powder, and/or onion powder if needed.
