Ingredients
  • 1 pound salmon skin removed
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro or green onion
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic minced
  • kosher salt, pepper, all purpose seasoning blend or season salt of choice (I used Old Bay)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 5.3 ounce container plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 small avocado
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 4 burger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.
Instructions
  1. Cut the skinless salmon into 2 inch pieces and put them in a food processor and pulse a few times so the salmon comes together but is not completely smooth.

  2. Put the salmon in a bowl along with the cilantro or green onions, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, kosher salt, pepper, and seasoning a blend of choice. Gently combine with your hands and form into four burger patties.

  3. Cook the salmon patties according to one of these methods:

Air Fryer: Place the burgers in the air fryer basket, set to 380 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. No olive oil is needed with this cooking method.

Skillet: Preheat a large skillet to medium heat and add the olive oil. Once hot add the burgers and cook 3 to 5 minutes per side. Watch the heat and if the skillet gets too hot lower the heat to medium low.

  4. While the burgers are cooking make the avocado yogurt sauce. Put the yogurt, avocado, lime juice, kosher salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.

  5. Serve the salmon burgers on buns with the avocado yogurt and toppings of choice such as lettuce, tomato, and onion.
