Sausage Pancake Corn Dogs start with cooked sausage links on a stick and dipped in pancake batter, then deep fried and served with syrup
Cook the sausage links in a skillet over medium low heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Or cook them in the air fryer set to 390 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket a few times throughout. Once the sausage is cooled, put them onto the corn dog sticks.
Note: I had the best luck holding the sausage link and twisting the corn dog stick through the center.
Put the dry pancake batter in a bowl and add the water, whisk until combined. The batter will be slightly thicker than if you were making pancakes.
Fill a skillet a few inches deep with vegetable oil and set over medium heat.
When the oil reaches 350 degrees, coat 3 or 4 sausages with the pancake batter (I used a spoon to help coat them) and gently lay them in the oil. They will cook for about a minute or two, flip them halfway through.
Put the cooked breakfast dogs on a plate lined with paper towels and repeat frying the remaining breakfast dogs.
Serve with powdered sugar and/or maple syrup if desired.
