Ingredients
  • 4 to 6 frozen chicken strips
  • 8 frozen waffles (I used Eggo) thawed
  • hot sauce of choice
  • maple syrup
  • Toppings of choice: lettuce, shredded cheese, jalapenos
Instructions
  1. Put the chicken strips in the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 380 for 15 minutes.

  2. While the chicken cooks, prepare the waffle tacos by getting two strips of foil, each about 6 inches. Roll them up with a hollow center. Place two thawed waffles over each and secure with a toothpick. You'll have four waffles left and will make another batch after the first is cooked.

Note: Picture examples in post above.

  3. Once the chicken is done, remove with tongs and place them on a cutting board.

  4. Place the foil with the waffles in the air fryer and set it to 380 degrees for 3 minutes.

Note: Check to make sure they are holding shape and press them slightly if needed. Also check toward the end of cooking time, adjust cook time if needed depending on how crisp you want them.

  5. Cut the chicken into smaller pieces and put them in a bowl with hot sauce and syrup according to your taste. Toss until evenly mixed.

  6. Once the waffles are done to your liking, remove the toothpicks and waffle taco shells. Repeat the process for making the waffle taco shells with remaining four waffles.

  7. Fill the waffles with chicken and toppings of choice such as lettuce, cheese, jalapenos, and serve with more syrup and hot sauce on the side.
