Smoked Nashville Hot Chicken uses a Nashville Hot dry seasoning mixed with honey butter and smoked for hours giving amazing wood fired flavor

Ingredients
  • 1 whole chicken (about 5 to 6 pounds)
  • 3 Tbsps butter melted
  • 2 Tbsps honey
  • 1 Tbsps dry Nashville Hot seasoning (spice aisle or link to buy in post above) plus more to sprinkle over top
  • 1 Tbsps garlic paste or minced garlic
  • kosher salt, pepper
  • Optional dipping sauce: Mix more melted butter, honey, and Nashville Hot seasoning for a sweet and spicy dipping sauce
Instructions
  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and set aside on a tray.

  2. Put the melted butter, honey, Nashville Hot seasoning, garlic, kosher salt, and pepper in a bowl and whisk until combined.

  3. Brush some of the butter mixture over all sides of the whole chicken, separate the skin on the breasts and rub some of the sauce between the skin and chicken breasts as well.

  4. Place in a smoker set to 225 degrees for 4-5 hours or until the internal temp is 170 degrees.

    Note: Can also be baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 1 hour, or until internal temp is 170 degrees.

  5. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes and serve with the optional sweet and spicy sauce if desired.
