Baked Ziti with Burrata Cheese is a delicious comfort food meal with Italian sausage and creamy, decadent burrata cheese
Cook the ziti pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water, set aside.
Set the same pot that you cooked the pasta in over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, cook 5 to 6 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Add the diced onion and cook 4 to 5 minutes with the sausage. Add the garlic and cook 1 more minute.
Put the cooked ziti into the pot along with the pasta sauce, red wine, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook 2 minutes, stirring until evenly combined.
Pour half of this mixture in a 9x13 casserole dish. Drain the liquid in the container of burrata and add half of the burrata cheese by tearing the balls into smaller pieces and sprinkle half of the Italian blend cheese.
Pour the remaining ziti mixture over top and top with remaining burrata cheese and Italian cheese. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Turn the broiler on high for a minute or two if you want a golden brown cheese.
Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
