A phenomenal sweet and spicy bourbon glaze on baked or smoked chicken wings!
Place chicken wings in a very large plastic bag (or divide evenly between 2 gallon size bags). Pour the Jim Beam and Coca Cola over the chicken wings to cover. Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Drain the liquid from the chicken wings and discard liquid. Place the brown sugar in the bag with the wings and mix the bag to coat evenly.
Remove chicken wings and place on a baking sheet. Sprinkle both sides evenly with kosher salt, pepper, ground red pepper, and garlic powder.
Cooking in the smoker: Set the smoker to 250 degrees. Smoke for 2 and a half hours, turning halfway through. During the last few minutes of cooking brush with the Jim Beam and Coke Glaze.
Cooking in the oven: Place the baking sheet in a 425 degree oven for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through. During the last few minutes of cooking brush with the Jim Beam and Coke Glaze.
Use a thermometer to make sure they are at 170 degrees.
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, whisk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, whisking occasionally.
