Honey Hot Chicken Wings is the perfect combo of sweet and spicy, these Honey Hot Chicken Wings can be baked in the oven or smoked for extra flavor!
Pat the wings dry with paper towels. Toss them in a large bowl with the olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, kosher salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
In a saucepan add the hot sauce, honey, and butter. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer, whisking occasionally, for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Place the chicken wings in a smoker set to 250 degrees for two and a half hours. Flip them halfway through. Brush with the honey hot sauce during the last half hour of cooking. Check the internal temp to make sure they are at 170 degrees before serving.
These can also be baked in the oven: Place wings on a lined baking sheet and put in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes, flip them halfway through. Brush with the honey hot sauce during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
Serve the wings with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
